Sabrina Carpenter is a hugely successful pop star with fans all over the world. Many of those would leap at the chance to see her on stage, although some may disagree with one policy she’s a fan of.
Rolling Stone sat down with the Espresso singer for an extended interview, covering everything from her hobbies to her heroes. One of those topics concerned mobile phones, where Carpenter admitted she would consider barring the devices at her concerts. “This will honestly piss off my fans, but absolutely,” the Please Please Please singer said.
Carpenter explained that she saw Silk Sonic play in Las Vegas, and they “locked” her phone. The result was the best experience she’s had at a concert. “I genuinely felt like I was back in the 70s – Wasn’t Alive. Genuinely felt like I was there. Everyone’s singing, dancing, looking at each other, and laughing. It really, really just felt so beautiful,” she said.
Carpenter Says She Understands Why People Bring Phones To Her Shows
The outlet points out that if Carpenter were to enforce a phone ban, she wouldn’t be the first high-profile artist to do so. Adele, Madonna, and Bob Dylan reportedly do the same. Carpenter continued, “I’ve grown up in the age of people have iPhones at shows. It, unfortunately, feels super normal to me.” The Bed Chem singer says she doesn’t blame her fans for wanting to capture the moment for memory’s sake. However, she joked that she may not feel so comfortable on camera years down the line. “Do not zoom in on me when I’m 80 years old up there,” she quipped.
Among other revelations, the pop star also shared a ritual she conducts before appearing on stage. Carpenter reportedly has a cold plunge just minutes before heading on stage. She even has a portable ice bath, so she can do this regardless of the venue. The outlet explains that the Sue Me singer will sometimes plunge outdoors or in spas near where she is touring. Paloma Sandoval, one of the pop stars’ close friends, reportedly said they are addicted to the cold plunge because of her.
