Anne Burrell, a beloved TV Chef and host of Worst Cooks in America has died at the age of 55.
According to a report by Page Six, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department told the outlet the TV star was found unconscious at her home in Brooklyn on Tuesday at around 7:50 AM. The outlet also reveals that the 911 caller allegedly told dispatchers Burrell went into cardiac arrest and was “DOA”. She was later pronounced dead when emergency services arrived at the residence. The outlet explains that authorities have not revealed the cause of death, and an investigation is underway.
Burrell was known across the food industry for her iconic platinum-white hairdo as well as her culinary skills. She quickly garnered a loving fanbase thanks to her bubbly personality and for hosting multiple TV shows. Per The Metro, Burrell hosted her first show ‘Secrets of a Restaurant Chef’ in 2008. She also appeared in ‘The Best Thing I Ever Ate’ the following year.
The TV Chef was best known for her role on Worst Cooks in America, where she starred alongside Beau MacMillan. During the show, the duo mentors wannabe home chefs in the hopes of improving their culinary skills. The show has been on the air for 15 years, spanning 28 seasons.
Friends And Family Pay Tribute To Burrell, ‘A Beloved Wife’
According to a report by People, Burrell was married to Stuart Claxton, and the couple tied the knot in 2021. Her family released a statement that reads, “Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered. Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions worldwide. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
Speaking about married life, she told the outlet in 2023, “I have to say, I love being married. We’re together all the time because Stuart works from home. It’s the being together all the time, but it’s also the adventure together.”
Friends and fans are paying tribute to the TV Chef across social media. Tyler Florence, who has hosted several shows on the Food Network, shared a post on Instagram explaining he is heartbroken. He says of the late star, “She lit up the room. A very special person who shared her love of cooking with a generation. I was lucky to have a front row seat to watch her gift.”
