Paris Jackson is the daughter of one of the most iconic and influential music artists who has ever lived. She is a performer herself, although some fans are reportedly upset that she is due to appear on stage on the anniversary of the King of Pop’s death.
Michael Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009, and that date coincides with her tour date this year at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Jackson is active on social media, with over 5 million followers on her Instagram profile, @parisjackson. She addressed criticism about the dates in an Instagram Stories post on Friday. Instagram Stories only stay on the platform for 24 hours unless you specifically request otherwise. Per The Independent, during the now-expired video, Jackson quipped, “So people are mad again.” She explains, “One of the tour dates I’m supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family.”
However, the singer explains that the dates are out of her hands as she’s not even the headliner. Those groups typically choose the dates. Jackson clarified, “So, what I guess I have to explain to these people is that when you’re not headlining these shows, you don’t pick what date you perform.”
Jackson Jokes She Doesn’t Even Have A Tour Bus
During the Instagram Story, Jackson reportedly shared some insight into her travel arrangements during the tour. She explained that as she’s a support act, she does not get any preferential treatment. Per the Independent, the singer said, “First of three also doesn’t get a tour bus. You get maybe a sprinter van, which I’ve done before when I’ve got a band with me. But I’m not going to have my band with me this time.”
Fans on social media are a tough crowd to please, no matter who you are. Just last week, TikTok users had some rather nasty things to say about 2000s superstar Avril Lavigne. Rude commenters had choice words about the Sk8er Boi singer’s appearance, causing fans to leap to her defense.
