Genevieve Chenneour is best known as Clara Livingston from the Netflix series Bridgerton. Earlier this year, the actress narrowly escaped having her phone swiped by thieves, and dramatic CCTV footage shows what happened during the altercation.
The Times shared footage from the Metropolitan Police of the attempted robbery. The incident reportedly occurred in a coffee shop in London back in February. Chenneour is sitting near the counter facing away from the table where she placed her phone. A man dressed in black with a black hat leans in behind her, reaches around, and quickly takes her phone from the tabletop.
Chenneour instantly notices as the thief walks past with her mobile in his hand and springs into action. She and another person force the thief to the ground. A struggle takes place half off-camera, but Chenneour can be seen striking the thief as he tries to get up from the floor. Another man in a dark jacket approaches the actress, although the surveillance footage has no sound, and it’s unclear what they say.
A report by The Standard reveals more details about the theft attempt, including what the man who approached afterward said. The theft allegedly occurred at the Joe and the Juice bar in Kensington on February 8. The outlet also reveals the identity of the thief as 18-year-old Zacariah Boulares, who already has an extensive rap sheet. Boulares also allegedly threatened Aled Jones, a TV presenter, with a machete in 2023. He was 16 at the time, thus, authorities were unable to reveal his identity.

The Standard also shared the CCTV footage on Instagram, which prompted a response from the Bridgerton actress. She clarified, “To make viewers aware – the guy who walked up to me was with the thief, and he threatened to stab me multiple times.”
The outlet explains that police are holding Boulares at Wormwood Scrubs prison. He reportedly admitted to theft and common assault and a previous theft in January. According to The New York Post, the suspect is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, June 17.
