Revenge is supposed to be a dish best-served cold. However, one man from Kentucky allegedly prefers his with a helping of fur, claws, and teeth.
The Murray Police Department shared details of the bizarre case in a press release. They explain that the incident occurred at an open business on June 6 during the night, at around 9:18 PM. A man reportedly released a raccoon into the establishment before fleeing the scene.
Officers later tracked down the suspect while he was in his car and performed a traffic stop. The man reportedly refused to open his windows during the procedure, prompting officers to remove him from the vehicle. Authorities identified the suspect as 40-year-old Jonathan Mason of Murray, Kentucky. The press release explains that Mason was previously banned from the business’s premises.
The Event In Kentucky Resulted In An Injury
The Murray Police Department reports that after the suspect released the raccoon, it bit somebody. Authorities arrested Mason and charged him with 2nd-degree assault, 3rd-degree criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, and ‘failure of owner to maintain required insurance.’
A report by The New York Post provides more insight, stating that locals know the man as “Cowboy Cody.” He was allegedly refused entry into the Big Apple Grill and Bar on Friday night. A bartender at the establishment told the outlet, “Apparently, he had trapped a raccoon earlier in the day on his farm, and he had been carrying it around with him.” They added, “I’m a bartender, so you know I’ve seen some crazy stuff in my time. But nothing like this.”
Mason lives on a farm nearby, and this is reportedly not the first time he has caused trouble at local bars. Mary Hafner, 37, who works at the Big Apple Grill and Bar, told the New York Post the establishment banned Mason over a drunken mule incident. Hafner explained that he was already drinking when she encountered him on Friday, but he was fond of her, so she tried to convince him to leave.
He allegedly said, “Oh, I see how it is. They sent a pretty face out here to distract me,” before leaving without issue. She explained that Mason returned with the raccoon moments later, and it looked terrified. The worker who the animal bit reportedly required rabies shots.
