If you grew up in the ’90s and early 2000s, you’ll be pleased to learn that many of the music stars you loved still tour, even if they don’t make the headlines quite as often. One of those is Avril Lavigne and her latest performance on stage has prompted a few fans to point out her appearance.
The ‘Complicated’ singer is active on social media and frequently posts backstage footage and clips from her concerts. However, one post from a couple of days ago has raised some eyebrows.
Lavigne is singing her classic ‘Sk8er Boi’ and clearly having a great time entertaining a packed-out venue. The most striking thing some have pointed out is that her hair is green and blonde now. Others make jibes about her weight and appearance. The comments section on another clip from Madison Square Garden is full of particularly mean replies. One of the top comments is simply “Avril Lasagne,” while another jokes, “I can finally say I have the body type of Avril Lavigne.” One poster quips, “The concert is sponsored by Dominoes, and a few even joke about her not taking Ozempic.

There are, unfortunately, dozens of rude comments on Lavigne’s latest videos, but many seem to forget that ‘My Happy Ending’ singer isn’t in her 20s anymore. If you want to feel really old, she’s 40 now.
One TikTok user writes, “She was a literal teenager when she was initially famous. She was never going to remain a skinny teenager forever. Ppl are so weird about weight.” Another says, “Looks like a sold out show. She’s doing just fine, leave her alone.” One comment with over 1300 likes by @emolina95 reads, “She is 40 years and still incredible!!” In response to the unkind comments, @Tonyadawnsmith writes, “How about ya’ll stop commenting on ppls bodies.. ugh! Good or bad, when did this become so normalized?” Another admitted, “I’ll always be a bit in love with her.”
Avril Lavigne is on the final leg of her “Greatest Hits Tour” which started last year and concludes this month.
