Dancing with the Stars celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. One of the most iconic faces in the show’s history is Julianne Hough, who won the competition in Season 4 and again in Season 5. She later returned as a judge and host and recently revealed a medical emergency that occurred on live TV.
Hough posted a heartfelt message about the show on her Instagram page. “What started as a niche ballroom dance show turned into something so much bigger, a place where people come to grow, transform, and connect,” she explains. Hough recalls she was only 18 when she joined Dancing with the Stars. She trained in London and came to Utah with $2000.
The DWTS star also reveals she burst a cyst while recalling other moments from her time on the show. “Who would’ve thought… I ended up winning my first two seasons, had a cyst burst on live TV (yep, that happened).”
Hough speaks fondly of the competition and how it’s had a positive impact on her life. “This show has given me a home, a family, and a deep sense of purpose,” she explains. “I’m forever grateful to everyone who’s been a part of it. From the pros to the celebs to the crew to the fans who’ve shown up season after season.”
