Grandma Fights Back: Florida Great Grandma Fights Off Attacker With Baseball Bat

“BIYA!!!”

That is the first sound you’ll hear if you try to break into the car of Florida resident, and former softball player, Clarese Gainey. The next sound you’ll hear is probably a metal bat clanging off your dome.

Gainey, a 65-year-old great-grandmother encountered a 5’6″ 300 lb. half-naked man attempting to break in to her green car outside. But instead of calling the police, she decided to take matters into her own hands to protect what’s hers.

“I grab my bat, I brace myself and I ease the door open,” Gainey told Fox 35 News (via Fox News).

That’s when Antonio Mosely charged her, police said. Little did he know she was a high school softball player.

“I took that bat and hit him upside the head like ‘pi-yah!’ He said ‘Ow!'” Gainey personified.

Police say Mosely ran to a nearby mobile home park, leaving behind his pants, shirt and a sock.

“He was in his drawers, he didn’t have no shoes on, no shirt or nothing,” Gainey said.

A K-9 unit tracked him inside a mobile home, where it got even worse because they said he was wearing a new pair of pants with coke in its pocket.

Officers brought Mosely back to Gainey to identify him. She says she could easily identify him by not only his appearance, but the injury to his head.

Mosely is being held in the Alachua County Jail with two counts of burglary and drug possession.

There are a lot of great parts about this story, but I think my favorite part is the fact that the people interviewing her had her recreate the incident with her softball bat. This bat looks like it was made 50 years ago and with all the paint scraped off, it looks more like a metal pole than a softball bat.

The funny part is that she wields it pretty well. She looks like she can take some good cuts with it. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if someone offered her a minor league contract.
