The parenting police are going after Kim Kardashian…again. Her latest offense? Putting her one-year-old daughter, Chicago, in a walker.
Kardashian recently posted a photo of Chicago and her niece, Stormi Webster, on her Instagram. The post was meant to wish Stormi a happy birthday. However, spectators soon began criticizing Kardashian for her and Stormi’s adorable matching walkers. One commenter said, “Walkers are actually bad for babies, but yeah do what you want,” while another said, “They are the worst you can place a child in. They will affect how they walk. Throw them out!”
For what it’s worth, Kardashian’s fans concerns are valid. According to AAP, “An estimated 8,800 children younger than 15 months were treated in hospital emergency departments in the United States for injuries associated with infant walkers” in 1999. Additionally, a more recent study supported a ban on infant walkers, similar to the one’s that are in place in Canada and Europe.
Despite the criticism, most people in the comments responded positively to the post. One person commented, “So cute the two babies, love them,” while others joined Kim in wishing Stormi a happy birthday.
Neither Kardashian, nor Kylie Jenner (Stormi’s mother) responded to the critics regarding the “dangerous” walkers. Probably because they’re too busy being parents and doing what they believe is best for their children.
What do you think: should Kim and Kylie ditch the walkers for their little girls or are their parenting choices no one’s business? Sound off in the comments!
