Kylie Jenner is a name that seems to appear everywhere on social media. From Kylie's TV shows, brand deals, and cosmetic line, it seems that this 20-year-old business mogul is focused on making the public aware of her and her career.
But recently, Kylie's cosmetic line has been put in the hot seat, yet again, with people upset at her for her expensive makeup brush collection.
Kylie Cosmetics made the announcement last week about the Silver Series Brush Collection 16-piece set, with the release date being December 13th.
You can purchase the brushes individually, with the most expensive brush in the set being the Large Powder Brush, retailing at $48.
However, the entire brush set retails for $360! Yes, it's that expensive and is a huge commitment to a brush set.
After receiving backlash for the $360 price tag, Kylie took to Twitter to compare her collection's price to other retailers brush set prices.
But what's interesting is that she compared her brushes to the likes of Kevyn Aucoin, Artis, and MAC Cosmetics.
However, many people on Twitter and YouTube did not approve of the comparison...
Other people were just not impressed with the quality and made their own comparisons to the appearance of the brushes.
Jeffree Star had some thoughts to share with his 5.6 million subscriber audience. While he did like how some of the brushes worked, he felt like the foundation brush and concealer brush were not anything special and took longer to blend out.
He also had concerns not only with the listed price, but taking into consideration of the extra tax and shipping, meaning it's not affordable or practical for many consumers. Jeffree was also astounded at the fact that Kylie (aka the queen of lip products) did not include a lip brush...interesting. He claimed that the brushes were NOT 'Jeffree Star-Approved!
I personally would not spend over $300 on any makeup brushes ever! I mean, you can argue that yes, you are paying not only for the product but the brand name.
However, I'm someone who honestly does not care what my makeup brushes say on them - if they work for me, then I'm fine and don't feel the need to spend more money.
