This couple is living proof that true love does exist and miracles can happen!
If you’ve never believed in miracles, especially around the holiday season, then you may believe in them now.
A man of two divorced parents filmed the tear-jerking way his parents got back together after their 3 years apart: a surprise engagement, right before Christmas, nonetheless.
The viral video features Jeffrey Sr. and Lorrie Agan. The two got married back in 1989, in an electronic store, as they didn’t have the finances to have a ‘proper’ wedding.
After getting married, they had 8 children. However, after almost 25 years of marriage, the couple separated and divorced in 2014. The divorce was caused by the couple constantly fighting and getting into disagreements.
Their 21-year-old son, Jeffrey Jr., said that at the time of their divorce, it was really hard for the entire family and affected not only Jeffrey Sr. and Lorrie but all of the kids.
“They fought, separated, divorced, and it tore the family apart. Each of us felt like we had to cope with the destruction in different ways, and on our own.”
The big question is: “How did they go from divorced to engaged? Just like that…”
Well, according to Buzzfeed, during the separation/divorce, the pair had gone to counseling and took time to work on themselves, as individuals.
Later on, once they got themselves together, they began talking to one another and then that led to them dating again.
The Surprise Of A Lifetime:
Three days before Christmas Day, December 22nd, Jeffrey Sr. gave his ex-wife, Lorrie, an early Christmas present. Because of the large square box, Lorrie initially thought the gift was a pizza, which is just as amazing. But no, it was not pizza.
Lorrie opened the box to find a framed poem from Jeffrey Sr. As Lorrie read the heartfelt poem, Jeffrey Sr. was down on one knee and handed a small box that contained an engagement ring to her. The end of the poem asked if she would marry him and Lorrie exclaimed yes and cried tears of joy!
The funny aspect of all of this is that none of the kids knew that their father was going to propose to their mother. But luckily, Jeffrey Jr. figured out what was happening.
“I read the situation quickly as it was happening, and I pulled out my phone and caught a great recording!”
Currently, the video has gone viral with a whopping 10.7 MILLION views!
And since the response has been so incredible, the kids of the newly engaged couple reached out, per request by some of the public, and started a GoFundMe in efforts to give their parents the wedding of their dreams. They already reached over their $2,000 goal, raising over $2,400 for the wedding.
What a Christmas miracle!
I have to say, this video was so touching to watch and see a tiny glimpse of the love these two have, and have always had, for each other. Jeffrey Sr. and Lorrie’s story just goes to show that it is possible to reconcile with those who have been a distant part of your life and that love will always keep people together.
