How are these even considered pants, though?
Over the years, we’ve all witnessed different styles and trends when it comes to jeans; Skinny Jeans, Bell-Bottom Jeans, Low-Rise Jeans, High-Waisted, the list goes on.
But the latest in denim fashion has left people wondering why they are even in existence or a component to an outfit.
We bring to your attention: Thong Jeans.
Japanese designer Meiko Ban came up with the design concept and showed off her brand, Thibaut, (including the thong jeans) at the showing of the Spring/Summer 2018 Collection during Amazon Fashion Week in Tokyo, Japan.
Meiko has been made aware of all of the attention that her design is receiving, so much so that she modeled the jeans herself and showed her audience how you’re supposed to wear them.
These pants are a bit scandalous looking, considering the main part of the pants are missing…
When looking from the front, it looks as if the denim material is acting as a frame or just a blue outline of pants. Then from the back, the line of denim clearly resembles a thong, thus the name, and also the reason why the model is wearing a one-piece body suit.
After the photos were made available to the public, the Internet was more than confused about the impracticality of the design.
I’m all for jeans with a few rips in them – you know, that kind of distressed but cute look. But these thong jeans – Pass!
Not only are these ‘jeans’ completely impractical for wearing to school or work, but they must be uncomfortable! How do you sit down comfortably in them?
If you are going to try out the thong jeans, then listen to Meiko and wear some leggings underneath!
