It's never right to tell people what they should or shouldn't eat. But to tell a pregnant woman what she should eat, it just disgustingly inhumane.
A woman who is 8 months pregnant, was rudely interrupted by an older man while making her way back home from Jersey City.
This 50-something-year-old man decided to take time out of his day to spread nothing but negativity and insult this innocent woman, in line for a ferry ride.
Alissandra Maffucci took to her Instagram, to post her story of a man’s pure ignorance and uncalled for judgment.
“Today, as I was waiting in line to catch the ferry back home to Jersey City, a man, probably in his late 50s, turned to me and said, ‘You need to go on a diet!’ and started boisterously laughing. I was stunned and didn’t know what to say so after an awkward silence (I uttered a cold ‘Uhhh’), he then goes, ‘I bet you hear that a lot, right?’ to which I responded, ‘No, I don’t.’ He laughed awkwardly, took the hint, and we boarded the ferry. I sat across from him on the boat and thought of all the things I WISH I had said to him in the moment.”
That guy is lucky that he didn’t get publicly humiliated for what he did! Even though Alissandra did not directly speak back to him, she wanted to use her social media to spread the message about how wrong this situation was.
Additionally, she mentioned that he was lucky that his comments did not deeply affect her, as she has never struggled with body confidence issues. However, it enraged her to think of the many other pregnant women, he has said things like that to.
“I found myself angry, with the thought that he may have said this to another pregnant woman who may have had issues with her confidence and this could be crushing and cause her to doubt her beauty and her body. And because of that, I had to talk about this and share my experience.”
Alissandra wants to make emphasize how special and precious, pregnant women are!
“Pregnancy is beautiful and has nothing to do with a certain weight. For my fellow pregnant mamas, don’t let anyone make you feel like your body isn’t anything less than perfect. You’re a walking miracle, so strut that little human being growing inside of you. And to that douche on the ferry- I cringe for you.”
I’m not sure why this man felt the need to insult Alissandra, especially when she looks like she’s in INCREDIBLE shape! Seriously, she looks amazing and radiant!
No matter the situation, it is NOT OKAY for strangers to think that they have the gift of authority, to tell you what you should do or not do. The pressure of others is something that can seriously destroy those of us who let them. Let’s hope that there is not a ‘next time’ situation, regarding body-shaming towards pregnant women, and that that man learns a lesson or two!
