How A Stranger Came To One Mom’s Rescue On A Plane

One stranger shared her story about how she was the only person to help out a struggling mother of three, on a flight. And she has an important message for future travelers!

You always hear about rude, ignorant passengers on plane rides, especially when it comes to complaints about loud screaming children.

But, on a rare occasion, someone steps up and does something wonderful. Case in point, one woman decided to do something that no other passenger was going to do when a child was crying – help out.

A woman, named Kesha Bernard, was on an Alaskan Airlines flight from Seattle, last week. On the flight, she heard children screaming and crying right before take-off. The mother of the children was traveling with two toddlers and a baby and was left to handle her toddlers upset about having seatbelts on.

Kesha took to Facebook, to explain the story and shared an important message with future travelers, and just humans in general.

Being a mother to two toddlers, herself, Kesha understood how difficult it can be as a parent to deal with children while traveling. But what Kesha could not understand hearing, were the complaints that were coming from ‘bothered’ passengers.

One incident that happened was when the mother’s toddler was kicking the seat in front, while the mother was trying to stop it. Well, the passenger in front did not handle the situation well at all and allegedly “grabbed the child’s leg.” That’s when Kesha heard the mother exclaim: “She’s 3! I can’t believe you just did that!” And while all of this commotion was happening, the flight attendant standing nearby, did nothing.

Older men were heard saying, “Obviously her way of discipline isn’t working.” So Kesha spoke back to the men, saying, “She’s probably afraid to do anything…you can’t do anything anymore,” which seemed to shut the men up. But the problem was, Kesha was too far away from the struggling mother and inconsolable children.

After giving up on hoping that others who were closer, would help, Kesha took it upon herself to help out the struggling mother.

“I get up out of my seat go a few rows back and go ask her if she needs help (apparently that’s so hard to do) she immediately handed me her baby. This lady was like, YES!”

She went on to say that once she carried the baby back to her seat, the baby miraculously stopped crying!

But there is an important message that Kesha wants to spread her viral audience.

“Be nice and considerate. If someone needs help for God’s sake HELP THEM. Complaining and mumbling don’t do a single thing except make the person that needs help feel worse (words hurt)…”

We think that Kesha did the right thing and admire her for her assistance towards the traveling mother.

And her message is very important- it’s much harder to be rude than it is to be kind!
