In the beginning of 2016, Mattel’s Barbie doll designs revealed the company was trending toward body positivity with new dolls coming in a variety of more realistic sizes, shapes hair colors/textures and skin tones. But if you haven’t seen the man buns, fratty outfits and new styles that Ken dolls are sporting, then you haven’t heard the latest news from Mattel.

Famous for their usually blond-or-brown-haired and light-skinned Barbie & Ken line, Mattel’s newest election of Ken dolls show a more positive attitude towards diversity as an addition to their ‘New Crew.’ The ‘New Crew,’ features Fashionista Barbie and Ken dolls that range in different sizes and shapes, “Ken comes in 3 body types: broad, slim, and original for the ultimate storytelling experience.” There are 15 different Ken dolls to choose from and the dolls are available for pre-order on Mattel’s website expecting to ship out July, 8th.

Each doll is being sold for $9.99.

In an interview with People, Lisa McKnight, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Barbie said: “Evolving Ken was a natural evolution for the brand and allows girls to further personalize the role they want him to play in Barbie’s world.”

As someone who used to play with Barbie and Ken dolls, I wish I had these options of Ken dolls, as well. But I can appreciate the fact that the company has put a modern twist on something as classic as a Ken doll.

Props to Mattel for changing it up and evolving with society!
