It is clear that we live in a world where women, and especially models, face immense pressure to change their bodies to fit an impossible ideal. In some cases, even underweight models, such as Agnes Hedengard, have been refused work for being "too heavy".
To British model Rosalie Nelson, who is a US size 4, these issues with the modeling industry needed to be changed immediately. Nelson's, modeling agency once told her she needed to be "down to the bone." She also realized that when models travel and live together for work, their eating habits and potentially disordered behavior are easily passed on to all models who share the same living accommodations.
Frustrated with the prevailing message that models should not eat and should be very thin, Nelson started a petition on Change.org. The petition currently has over 50,000 signatures and the British government has noticed. Members of Parliament are seeking to ban "dangerously thin" models from runways. Parliament is also considering legislation to protect models from agencies and designers who pressure them to be too thin.
