Teaching is Kandace Mason’s passion. That’s why she was so excited to start teaching sixth grade at West Hoke County Middle School in North Carolina.
However, according to ABC11, Mason’s job was suspended after a video of her pole dancing was leaked to the school board. The video was originally posted to her private Facebook account.

Hoke County schools did not specifically say why Mason was suspended. However, the policy Mason violated stated, “As role models for the school system, students, however, employees are responsible for their public conduct … even when they are not performing their job duties as employees of the school system.”
Mason believes that someone intentionally leaked the video. She said, “It wasn’t even like it was a parent or student that brought this up. It was someone that was being malicious and pretty much trying to make me out to be a bad person.”
Mason has never felt ashamed of having pole dancing as a hobby. She says she uses it as a form of expression and sees it as a form of art.
Was it right for the school district to suspend Mason or is she being treated unfairly? Sound off in the comments!
