12 Best Foodie Cities in America

By Minq Team
July 12, 2018

Every country has places in which the cuisine and the food are revered by the eating population. America is not an exception. Here are the best places for foodies to visit while on vacation in the USA.

San Diego, California

This city on the West Coast is the place to go for foodies that want to try some Mexican food. San Diego offers fish tacos, carne asada fries, and their very own burrito concoction that includes fries rolled up inside to their visitors.

Providence, Rhode Island

Providence, Rhode Island should be on the foodie’s list if they want a place to indulge in donuts. This is the one place in the US where a total of 32 Dunkin Donuts branches can be found in a single area. It is also home to Allie’s Donuts, an establishment that offers gigantic donuts to patrons.

Monroe, Wisconsin

It is remarkable to find that the world’s Swiss Cheese capital is not in Switzerland, but in a small city in the US state of Wisconsin. Foodies with a taste for cheese should schedule their visits for September when the city commemorates its Cheese Days.

Portland, Oregon

Portland offers foodies a taste of salted caramel, foie-gras, and meats that are cured home-style. It is also known as one of best places in the country for beer junkies with its many home-brewed beer offerings.

Arlington, Texas

Arlington is where foodies can find nachos. It is where the baseball stadium nacho was invented by Frank Liberto, and the city where authentic nachos are up for grabs.

Portland, Maine

Just like its namesake in the state of Oregon, Maine’s Portland also prides itself on its homegrown offerings. Foodies can revel in freshly picked vegetables and hand-picked oysters during their visit to this city.

New York City

New York is more than just the financial center of the United States. Besides Wall Street, New York is also home to excellent burgers, delicious bagels, and a bustling Italian restaurant scene.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Milwaukee is a haven for bacon junkies. Its offerings include the tasty bacon wrapped meatloaf and the peanut butter bacon burger. The city also hosts an annual Baconfest with a Race for the Bacon event where winners are treated to tasty bacon delights at the finish line. Milwaukee is also without a doubt a beer town, dubbing their baseball team the “Brewers.”

Yountville, California

The high-class cuisine is what Yountville, CA has in store for the foodie on holiday. The city is proudly home to six cuisine personalities that hold a Michelin award. The best dining experience is The French Laundry, but you have to be quick if you want a reservation as they go quickly.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Best known for its French Quarter and its long history with French settlers, New Orleans proudly welcomes visiting foodies with its array of French restaurants and even more so its cajun style eats. Visitors should also sample the mufuletta sandwich, a delicacy that New Orleans can proudly call its own.

New Haven, Connecticut

New Haven’s pizza is well worth mentioning. It employs a different preparation process which involves lots of coal, ovens, and a non-existent cheese topping.

Kansas City, Missouri

While not a large town, Kansas City is known far and wide for its BBQ. Burnt ends are a delicacy at most Kansas City area eateries. While St. Louis may be known as the gateway to the west, Kansas City has long stood as the eastern most western city and the food there doesn’t let you down in that department.
