9 Inexpensive Ways To Workout

By Minq Team
Jacob Lund

You don’t need to spend big bucks on a state-of-the-art gym and personal trainer. There are plenty of ways you can exercise without dishing out your life savings.

YouTube

There are tons, and I means TONS, of workout tutorials on Youtube. The videos explain and walk you through each exercise so it feels like you have your own personal trainer in the comfort of your own home. There are workouts designed for every thing you could imagine, specific time limits, different intensities, and specific areas you want to target.

Stability Ball

There are endless possibilities of exercises you can do with a stability ball, from simply working your core by sitting on it at your desk to sweating your butt off with a high intensity workout. All you need is about $15 and a few minutes each day to get a killer bod.

Discount Stores

Stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls usually have discounted fitness equipment in the household goods section. You can get cheap yoga mats, free weights, and even fitness videos for a fraction of the original price. After you’ve cleaned out that section head to athletic gear and pick out a stunning outfit that will make you want to use your new equipment all the time!

Groupon

Most cities and towns have an awesome selection of local deals on Groupon. You can get boot camps, gym memberships, fitness classes, and equipment at much cheaper prices. All you need to do is create an account and search for your area. You will be amazed at all the options you never knew you had so close to home!

Use Household Items

Make your own gym at home! Use cans of food as free-weights. If you really want a challenge, use a gallon of milk as a kettle ball. If you have stairs in your house jog up and down them a few times for a great cardio workout. Or use them for squats, leg lifts, or calf raises. Google “home stairs workout” for some new ideas.

Library

Hit up your local library for workout DVD’s. They have everything from yoga and Pilates to P90X. And it’s 100% free, as long as you return them on time. When you have mastered a specific DVD, go back and switch it out with another!

Personal Trainer in Training

If you are in school, did you know you have easy and cheap access to a personal trainer? Students who are learning to become personal trainers are often required to practice their new skills with actual people. Check out the campus rec center for personal training students who are offering their services at discounted prices.

Running Buddy

Make the great outdoors your gym. The scenery is much better, you don’t have to deal with annoying gym-goers, and it’s free! Hit up a local park for some beautiful early morning yoga or jog around the block with a friend. Make a pact with a friend to try to work out 3 or 4 times a week. You will be less likely to bail on a workout if you have another person counting on you.

Join a Sports League

An easy and fun way to get in a good workout is through a weekly sports league. Get a group of friends together and start a sand volleyball or softball team. It won’t seem like a workout until you wake up sore the next day.
