Alex Cooper is a podcaster most famous for hosting ‘Call Her Daddy’ on Spotify. The show specializes in casual, often light-hearted interviews. However, the host has recently opened up about alleged sexual harassment while playing soccer at Boston University. She also explains why she can no longer run on a treadmill.
According to a report by People, Cooper alleged she was sexually harassed in a recent documentary series on Hulu. She names her former soccer coach, Nancy Feldman. The outlet explains the podcaster revealed more about the alleged harassment when she sat down with Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert show.
Cooper reportedly opened up by saying she was initially excited to attend the Uni and train under a female coach. She alleges that an “uncomfortable” relationship slowly formed between herself and Feldman. It was slow, so she didn’t realize it right away.
The podcaster says that she eventually had one-to-one meetings with the coach and notes the conversation often shifted far away from football. Cooper alleges that her sessions with her coach became more focused on her “personal self.” She stuck with them for the benefit of the team.
Cooper Says ‘It Was An Isolation Tactic’
Cooper reveals that at one point, she wanted to give up on soccer. She also recalled a time when a teammate, also named Alex, was removed from the team. “This is a complete isolation tactic,” the podcaster said. She explained that her teammate knew what was going on when the coach pulled her from the squad.
The podcaster says she is still feeling the effects of the alleged sexual assault years later. She reportedly can’t run on a treadmill anymore because it triggers uncomfortable memories of when Feldman allegedly used to watch her run.
People explains that the University released a statement in response to the allegations. “Boston University has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment. We have a robust system of resources, support, and staff dedicated to student wellbeing and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office. We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all.”
Cooper has also shared her allegations on social media. Her post states that she reported the abuse to Drew Marrochello, the athletic director, but was ignored. Her Instagram post concludes, “To anyone who has also experienced what I have and been ignored… I am with you and this is DAY ONE of changing the system, flipping the script and finding justice. We will no longer be silenced.”
