12 Beauty Trends We Definitely Do Not Want To See In 2016

By Kelsey Stoskopf

With 2015 coming to a close, we can reflect on the bad beauty trends this past year cursed us with. From sharp eyebrows to stiletto nails, there were many beauty trends that we definitely do not want to come to 2016 with us. What beauty trend do you hope stays in 2015?

Sharp Eyebrows

Shaping your brows and making them "on fleek" became a hot trend in 2015. But some girls took the shaping way too far. Their brows turned out to look like they were drawn on with a Sharpie. Instead of looking like stencils, your eyebrows should look feathery and lightly colored in. Lets keep that in mind for 2016.

The Side Shave

We're not sure why the side shave ever became a trend in the first place, but it did. What are you going to do when it starts to grow out? In 2016, create the same side volume without shaving half your head. Curl your hair at the roots to achieve volume, part it heavily to one side and tuck the other side of your hair behind your ear for the sleek look you want.

Giant Cornrow-Like Braids

The side shave even went a step further in 2015 and ladies started adding cornrow-like side braids. While we do have to admit it looks pretty badass, it's definitely a look that should be left in 2015. In 2016 you should opt for a loose, side swept braid.

Over Drawn Lips

We can thank Kylie Jenner for this one! 2015 was the year of the Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge, a trend that we definitely don't want to venture into 2016. If you have thin lips you can easily make them a little fuller by applying a concealer to your lips, lining them and filling them in with lipstick. If you already have pouty lips you can get away with just using a nude lipstick or lip balm.

Dyed Armpits

In 2015 we saw the odd, yet powerful trend of dyed armpits come to life. It began with young feminists taking a stand against women's body hair expectations, but it quickly went viral with celebrities like Miley Cyrus taking part too. While it has a good message, we hope this trend stays in 2015 so women can rock their natural armpit hair.

Glitter In Places It Shouldn’t Be

Women even went a step further than dyed armpits and started putting glitter under their arms as well. In fact, glitter anywhere, like beards and roots, became a popular trend. Can you just imagine how hard it would be to wash all that glitter out?

Graphic Liner

While graphic liner may take your Halloween costume to the next level, it is definitely not ideal for a normal night out. This is one of those looks that should have just stayed on the runway. In 2016, opt for a subtle cat eye or colored liner to play up your eyes.

Crazy Contour

For a while, a new way to contour was introduced every week. As the year progressed the crazier the contour became. In 2016, ditch all the clown-like makeup and go for the subtle highlight and contour to accentuate your natural features.

Black Lipstick

Black lipstick just looks too evil queen and vampire-like. It's very hard to pull off. Even if you can pull of the shade, very few occasions call for a harsh black lipstick. Instead of the dark black, choose a berry or wine color lipstick in 2016.

Stiletto Nails

Stiletto nails came back with vengeance this year. While some people might find these nails cute, they're highly impractical and could probably become more dangerous than you think. In 2016, file down the sharp points to create a nail that resembles your natural shape. Gel nail polish is becoming the most popular trend and hopefully it'll replace these claws in 2016.

Brown Lipstick

We also have Kylie Jenner to blame for this trend coming back around. Brown lipstick was the thing to wear in the 90s and after disappearing for awhile, it made a comeback in 2015 thanks to Kylie's lip kit. While it may be lighter than the black lipstick, it's definitely just as bad.

Grey Hair

Tumblr

People had mixed emotions about the grey hair trend. Known as granny hair, it quickly became a hair color everyone was trying. But many questioned why anyone would purposefully dye their hair grey when it would happen naturally in a few years anyway. The grey hair trend has already started to fizzle out and we hope it goes away completely in 2016. We'll just wait until we're 80 for granny hair.
