15 Eyeshadow Colors You Need For The Perfect Custom Palette

By Minq Team

Trying out different eyeshadow combinations is a fun way to change up your look. While you may want to try some more experimental shades, you should first be sure that you have the basics. These basic shades are a must-have for any eyeshadow palette, since they make anyone look good.

Blanc Type

Blanc Type is the perfect pale, neutral, for when you don’t need too much on your eye, but you want some subtle definition. It’s a great compliment to a cat eye and a red lip.

Nylon

Nylon packs a punch. It’s a light color, but has an intense sheen to it. By far its best use is as a highlighter for the inner corners of your eye. This will make the eyes pop, especially if you wear glasses!

Woodwinked

Woodwinked is one of the best choices for an every day eye shadow. It is a rusty gold that can be worn on its own and is subtle, but has a pretty shimmer. When blended out in the crease area it turns a slightly more burnt orange color, which is an easy way to add dimension to the eyes without the help of an additional eye shadow.

Bronze

Bronze is a great color for making green or blue eyes pop. It is also a color well suited to a wide variety of skin tones. It’s a warm toned, shimmery brown that is a darker alternative to Woodwinked. It can also be used together with Woodwinked, with Woodwinked as a base color and Bronze placed in the crease.

Charcoal Brown

Charcoal Brown has two great purposes. Firstly, it’s a matte, neutral brown that works as a subtle option for those who don’t want a shimmery eye shadow. It particularly suits brown eyes. Secondly, it has an alternative use. It is a match to many brunettes’ eye brows and can be used to fill them in.

Corduroy

Corduroy is similar to Charcoal Brown in that it is a matte brown, but it leans on the darker side. This also for a more dramatic eye if it is used alone and blended out. It also works well in combination with Charcoal Brown when used on the outer corners and blended together with the Charcoal Brown base.

Satin Taupe

Satin Taupe is a color that looks great on everyone from brown eyes to blue eyes and even green eyes. It is a unique taupe that has a silver shimmer and a hint of plum running through it.

Patina

Patina is a light taupe with a frosty shimmer that can be worn for a barely there look. It looks great in combination with Satin Taupe for a slightly more amped up, but still very casual look.

Sable

Sable is a shimmery, neutral taupe with a hint of pink that suits many different skin tones. It is a nice alternative to a brown or gold toned neutral, and is a good component to any palette because of the nice alternative option it offers.

All That Glitters

Everyone needs a glittery option in their eye shadow palette. All That Glitters is a popular option. It is a pink-champagne that can stand on its own or be complemented by a darker crease color.

Sumptuous Olive

Sumptuous Olive injects some color into your eye shadow palette without being too out there. It combines well with Bronze and looks gorgeous on brown eyes. It particularly compliments warm skin tones.

Cranberry

Similarly, Cranberry offers a bolder color to work into your make up looks. Its cranberry color particularly suits blue eyes. The warmth of the eye shadow also particularly suits the Fall and Winter months.

Sketch

Sketch is a dark purple with a hint of brown in it that also offers a way to bring some color into an eye shadow look. It can work together with Cranberry or as an alternative, as it is deeper and slightly more neutral toned.

Smut

Smut is a nearly black, brown. It is particularly useful for a dark crease or liner color. Ff black comes off to harsh on your skin tone, Smut is a great alternative option.

Carbon

Carbon is a matte black that like Smut can be used for a dark crease or liner. Adding black will instantly make your eye shadow look like you’re ready for a night out.
