It seems like every celebrity is launching their own makeup line. The latest celeb to jump on the trend is Bella Thorne, who just launched two eyeshadow palettes through her brand, Filthy Fangs.
The palettes cost between $50-60 and sold out in just a few hours.
Despite the successful sales, several Twitter users not only dragged Thorne for the high cost of the palettes but also accused her of copying the aesthetic of products from Juvia’s Place, a black-owned cosmetics brand known for their high-quality, yet affordable makeup.
Here, Thorne’s Ocean Drive palette is on the left and Juvia’s Place’s Masquerade Palette is on the right.

Fans of Juvia’s Place were quick to call out Thorne for the extreme similarities between the two brands.
someone please explain why Bella Thorne is charging $50-$60 for nine-pan eyeshadow palettes… they pressed w coke or something? Go buy some @juviasplace instead#makeup #eyeshadow pic.twitter.com/Iz53N48ACH

These look suspiciously similar to Juvia’s place pallets AND they cost $50-$60. The nerve. https://t.co/k9qU5DCbtG

Chichi Eburu, owner of Juvia’s Place, responded to Teen Vogue regarding the controversy: “We’ve seen the backash and it’s uncomfortable to watch. Yes there are some similarities across every spectrum but we need to keep pushing forward. It’s unacceptable, seems like Bella’s team members didn’t do enough research. Hopefully they learn from this experience and move forward shining. We wish them the very best of luck.”
What do you think: are the similarities merely coincidence or did Thorne deliberately copy Juvia’s Place?
