Tell Those Pimples To Chill

Before applying any concealer and foundation, you should use either Visine or ice to reduce the pimple’s swelling as well as flatten it. Doing so can allow makeup to go on smoother and hide the pimple more effectively.

Use Minerals

Mineral foundation has the ability to conceal blemishes better than liquid and you can apply as much coverage you need without worrying about it caking up. With mineral makeup, blemishes will be a lot less noticeable.

Use Layers

Toning down the appearance of a blemish is easy with some layers. For a blemish that’s red, you should use a yellow color corrector which will tone down the blemish’s redness. To finish it off, set with an oil-free powder to set the corrector and the foundation so that your blemishes stay hidden all day.

Don’t Rub On Your Makeup, Pat It On

Rubbing concealer and foundation on your face isn’t good for your skin. Instead, you should pat concealer and foundation on with a sponge applicator; This will make for a more effective application.

Use An Optical Illusion

If your blemish is large enough that it casts a shadow, you can counteract that with an “optical illusion” by using a light-colored concealer beneath the blemish. Then set with a powder so that the concealer stays in place.

Make Your Own Beauty Mark

If your blemish isn’t too big, you can use a brown eye pencil to fill it in and make it look like a beauty mark. No one will even be able to tell you’re hiding a pimple.

Lighten Up

To conceal blemishes, use either a highlighting cream or a highlighting pencil; doing this will make the blemish a lighter shade. Once that’s done (and dry), apply a skin-matching concealer. This can then be set with a loose translucent powder applied with a fluffy brush to avoid smearing the concealer.

Use A Tinted Moisturizer

If you don’t need as much coverage to even out your skin tone, opt for using a tinted moisturizer instead of a full-coverage foundation which will be heavier on your skin.

Use A Stick

If you need more coverage, use a stick or cover-up foundation which won’t be as sheer as liquid foundation. You should use a concealer brush to apply the stick or cover-up foundation to just those areas that need it.

Use a Compact

If you tend to be on the oilier side, use a compact foundation that’s a cream to powder formula. With a compact, it’s easy to control the amount of coverage you get.

Take Concealer With You

You should always take your concealer with you, especially if you have oily skin, because concealer is prone to fading. To keep your blemishes hidden all day long, you may need to touch up your spots occasionally.

The More Natural, The Better

After you’ve applied concealer, you’ll want to ensure that you’re foundation is the exact shade of your skin tone so that it looks as natural as possible. It’s not true that foundation, which is a shade darker than your skin color, hides imperfections better.

Attack The Inflammation

Inflammation is usually caused by picking a pimple. The whole area should be well cleaned with a cleanser that contains either glycolic acid or sulfur. Blemishes will heal within a few days to the point where it’s barely noticeable, especially beneath makeup.
