Remember our article about Holographic Hair? Or maybe you've seen 'Unicorn Hair' OVERLOAD? Well, some people out there are kind of done with the happy-go-lucky hair colors and want to switch over to the darker side.

While we don't see the colorful hair trends going anywhere, the latest Instagram Hair trend is about to take over. Say hello to this Charcoal Hair color that might be the best trend to try for those of us with a little more attitude! And hair stylists all over Instagram are all about Charcoal Hair...

What Do The Professionals Have To Say?

There are some hair colors that sadly may not work with the hair dyes, to achieve the Charcoal color's full potential. Maryland-based colorist Maayan Birnstein, told Allure, "The balance between blue and gray is really key." It's also recommended that your hair is cool-toned and does not have any brassy or orange colors left in it from possibly, your last ombre or balayage color." The article also mentioned that she uses Schwarzkopf Igora Royal Absolutes Silverwhite to achieve the charcoal color.

Surprisingly there is more than one solution for stylists, to create the charcoal hair. According to Glamour, "Many of the colorists on Instagram credit L.A.-based colorist Guy Tang's #mydentity hair dye for helping them achieve the smoldering hue. He really does make a direct dye called charcoal."

So it seems like this color is legit, especially if it has its own dye name...

Calling All The Edgy People!

This smoke-show of a hair color is amazing for those who either want to experiment with their hair, or they just like the rockstar look. Also, it is SO much different than that silver hair trend...It also may be easier to achieve than anyone actually thought.

So You May Be A Bit Hesitant About This Trend...

This hair color is not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and here's why.

This hair color will make you look like you've aged. Like 40 years; I'm NOT ready to be 63 right now. I mean, it just looks like there are some gray highlights intertwined throughout some black-colored hair... Although some of these #charcoalhair tagged photos look more blue-toned. Hmm...

Whatever the case, you have to remember that this is just a trend and trends come and go.

Think Of Charcoal Hair As Your Next Color Transition

This current hair look is literally the perfect excuse to try out for those who are wanting lighter hair. Wait...what? Hear us out!

Most of the time when someone decides that they want their hair to drastically change from, let's say black to blonde, they do have to start a hair color process. Otherwise, their hair is just going to become extremely damaged and fried.

So...for those of you who may have darker hair and wanted the flexibility to change your hair to a lighter brown or blonde, you now have the opportunity of trying out charcoal hair for the in-between stages in the process. Seriously...you should try it!

What Are Your Thoughts?

I think this charcoal hair will probably be carrying into the upcoming fall and winter. Or has Instagram somehow reversed the light hair in spring/summer and dark hair in fall/winter 'RULE'?

Let us know if you try this trend and be sure to use the #charcoalhair on Facebook and Instagram!
