From raising awareness to educating people about her life, Kylie Bamberger's story is an amazing one.
Alopecia is a type of hair loss that occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles. These hair follicles are actually the vital, starting point for hair growth.
Alopecia is extremely common among people younger than 20 years old. Both women and men are affected equally.
When someone is affected by alopecia, their hair begins to fall out in clumps. Thus, resulting in the head having spots of baldness. In some rare cases, the alopecia will affect the entire scalp and the body's hairs, as well. Although, most cases are only slightly affected and lose 'patches' of hair, resulting in hair thinning.
Doctors say that 10% of those affected with alopecia, may never regrow their hair again.
Kylie's journey began in when she was 15 years old. She was diagnosed with Alopecia Universalis, which is a rare condition that causes the complete loss of all hair, including the scalp and the entire body. So when she was growing up, she started wearing wigs. When she was wearing the wig, she never took it off as she did not want to create uncomfortable situations, especially when it came to her dating life, back in the day. Kylie says that loving yourself comes first and loving someone else, comes second.
Throughout her young adulthood, she has grown so much confidence, that she has not worn her wig in the last 5 years. She wants everyone to know that their beauty comes from within and to accept all that you are!
Before the wedding day, the 27-year-old decided that she would not wear a wig on the big day. She told Inside Edition that: 'There was no way I was going to wear a wig at my wedding.' Instead, she wore a beautiful headband that went perfectly with her 2-piece wedding dress.
Also, can we talk about her WEDDING DAY MAKEUP? It looks AMAZING
The Big Day happened this past October of 2016. Kylie looked so beautiful on her wedding day. Her wedding day attire was gorgeous and Kylie looks adorably happy with her husband.
Kylie says in her YouTube video, that she 'Does NOT suffer from alopecia.' She goes on to say that the media portrays Alopecia in a negative light and how the media isn't being beneficial in its power. Sympathizing the loss of hair is only making the importance of having hair, that much greater. We should be celebrating positivity, how beautiful people are in the inside, and change the conversation to how wonderful it is to have a diversity of people that live in our society. She's accepted and loves the way she looks!
